Art Exploration

Release your emerging artists to explore exciting medieval themes as they draw, paint, sculpt, and create innovative pieces of art throughout the school year. Expect to encounter some dragons and fortresses along the journey that will be captured though your child’s imagination merged with the visual arts. Students will display their works of art in the Spring Showcase Art Show! 

Drama Discovery

Drama students will embark on a thrilling journey through the Middle Ages to unleash their creativity. They will use their actor’s toolbox to master theatre techniques through character development, drama games, scene work and improvisation. Culminating in a Spring Showcase, this class offers a nurturing environment where students build confidence, teamwork skills, and a love for performance art. Whether your child is new to acting or has prior experience, they will be inspired and grow in this dynamic and engaging class.

Science Labs

Why? What happens if? This hands-on class will explore these questions through fun experiments using the scientific method, scientific observation and STEM projects and challenges. Students work collaboratively in groups to make their own predictions, complete experiments, record observations, analyze the results and draw a conclusion. They will explore the science of the Middle Ages and have an opportunity to be in the Sightline Science and Engineering Fair in the spring.

Swords and Stories- FULL (Wait list only)

Knights, castles, weapons, armor, queens, horses, and jesters! Dive into the Middle Ages, exploring key historical events, influential figures, and medieval chivalry through epic tales and poems from the period. Students will uncover the rich tapestry of medieval life using interactive activities and projects to enhance their understanding of this fascinating time. Fear not, young squires – in this class there are no tests, only quests!

Music and Motion

Immerse your student in the joy of music and movement with our dynamic class! This engaging course introduces basic musical skills like rhythm, melody, and pitch recognition through interactive games and activities. We will integrate the Middle Ages into our curriculum, exploring Medieval chants, folk dances, and instruments to bring history to life through music.

Older Students Classes
Ages 13-18

Astrology and Geology

This interdisciplinary class invites students on a fascinating journey through the intertwined sciences of astrology and geology, exploring both the cosmic and earthly realms. Beginning with a historical exploration of astronomy, students will delve into our understanding of the universe. The course covers key astronomical concepts, including the study of our solar system, the observation of celestial bodies, and the principles of gravity and orbits.

Algebra I-CANCELLED

This class is a complete Algebra course. Students will have homework outside of class. We will learn basic Algebra skills and relate them to the Medieval times in fun and engaging ways. 

Algebra II

Algebra II is an intense course in advanced Algebra. Students will learn about Medieval mathematicians as well. Lessons will be tailored with the expectation of students working independently 30 minutes to an hour, 4 days a week. The goal is to bring an understanding of Algebra to the students and prepare them for higher mathematics.

Journalism & Photography

In this class students will engage in storytelling through words and images. Participants will learn the fundamentals of journalistic writing, photojournalism techniques, and digital media production. A highlight of the course is the creation of the Sightline Yearbook, where students capture the essence of our school year along with the memories and achievements they have made.

Dramatic Literature and History

This dual-credit class will examine dramatic works as literature, specifically with a tie-in to the high school drama class. Other classic works will be assigned as we study the history of the Middle Ages from approximately 500-1500 AD. Students will analyze literary works, write papers, perform in-class read-alouds, and develop creative projects throughout the course of the year.

Theatrical Performance Class

Step into the spotlight and embark on a journey of artistic expression through theatre. Students will explore and expand their acting skills in a supportive environment. Beginning with audition techniques and personalized coaching, students will learn acting techniques, drama games, improvisation, and also stage combat. The culmination of the class will be a professionally staged production depicted in the Middle Ages, showcasing

Wednesdays

In this class, the student’s natural desire and love for music will florish. Students will develop musicianship while they explore and discover their true voice. Through individual lessons and singing together students will improve sight reading and music theory skills.

Studio Art
Wednesdays

Discover the vibrant world of Medieval art! From illuminated manuscripts to stained glass, mosaics, sculpture, and religious-themed paintings, students will apply what they learn about this historical period to their own works of art. Class time will be filled with drawing, painting, clay work, printing, and other media exposure throughout the year.

The Drama Discovery Class presented Aesops Fables and an Ancient Chinese Shadow Puppet Show, The Story of Ping. The Art class made the Masks and Puppets!
