High school students who want an engaging hands-on Science Class. Mature 8th graders are welcome and can audit the class with permission from the teacher.
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the study of life, exploring the structure, function, growth, and diversity of living organisms. Students will investigate key biological concepts including cell structure and function, genetics and heredity, evolution, ecology, and human body systems. Through a combination of hands-on laboratory experiences, scientific inquiry, and real-world applications, students will develop critical thinking skills and a deeper understanding of how living systems interact and adapt.
In addition to core biological content, this course intentionally integrates elements of American history by highlighting the contributions of influential American scientists and the historical context in which major biological discoveries were made.
Regular homework assignments will be given, as well as in-class lab work. there will be preparation needed for in-class debates.
Students will receive a traditional letter grade. Homework and several tests will be given throughout the year.
