High school students who want an engaging hands-on Science Class. Mature 8th graders are welcome and can audit the class with permission from the teacher.

Class Description:

This interdisciplinary class invites students on a fascinating journey through the intertwined sciences of astrology and geology, exploring both the cosmic and earthly realms. Beginning with a historical exploration of astronomy, students will delve into our understanding of the universe. The course covers key astronomical concepts, including the study of our solar system, the observation of celestial bodies, and the principles of gravity and orbits.

Students will gain hands-on experience with astronomical instruments, enhancing their understanding of the skies above. The course also introduces the study of star dust and its significance in the broader cosmic context.

Transitioning from the celestial to the terrestrial, the course explores geology, focusing on Earth’s formation, structure, and the various processes that shape our planet. Through this exploration, students will discover the many amazing aspects of Earth, deepening their appreciation for the planet we call home.

By the end of the course, students will have a well-rounded understanding of both astronomy and geology, equipped with the knowledge and skills to appreciate the wonders of the universe and our beautiful Earth

Homework:

Regular homework assignments will be given, as well as in-class lab work. there will be preparation needed for in-class debates. 

Grading:

Students will receive a traditional letter grade. Homework and several tests will be given throughout the year.
