Homework:
Students will need to come to each blocking rehearsal with the lines for the scenes being rehearsed that day memorized (usually 1-3 scenes from the play per week). There will be a few written assignments required such as a character analysis worksheet and blocking for their monologue. There will be a few quizzes on acting terms. Review of lines and blocking at home is required each week- students will have practice sheets they need to have signed bi-weekly.
Grading:
A traditional letter grade will be assigned based on completion of homework assignments, line and blocking memorization done by the deadline, and 2-4 quizzes/tests done each semester.
Requirements
Volunteers:
Putting a a major production takes many helping hands. At least one parent/sibling/family friend is REQUIRED to volunteer to help us with one or more of the following areas: advertising, ticket sales, refreshment sales, cast meals, costume changes, programs, tech work, stage managing, costume making, and set building. Parents need to sign up for at least one area. Parents may be asked to bring refreshments of some sort to sell at intermissions during the performance nights.
Costumes:
We have a large collection of costumes and props, so most costumes will be provided. However, students may need to bring/buy some of their basic pieces- such as shoes, pants, dress shirt or socks. We often make costumes and costumes pieces at set builds. Sewing volunteers are greatly appreciated.
Extra Rehearsals/Coaching:
Students will need to meet once or twice with Mrs. Turner individually outside of class for a Character Work to refine their role. During the last month of class, as we start running the entire show, rehearsals on Tuesday may be extended.
During the 1st Performance Week (Beginning April 21st):
There will be at least 3 extra rehearsals in the evenings at the Venue- a Load In/Technical Rehearsal and 2 Dress Rehearsals.
Set builds:
Students are required to attend at least 2 set builds during the year involving building and painting the sets as well as making costumes and props . These occur at Mrs. Turner’s house usually every other Saturday beginning in January. Students will learn painting techniques and acquire stage crafting skills as well as enjoy the fellowship and fun of creating with their peers. Friends and family are invited to help.
