Meet the Sightline Teachers
DIANA TURNER
Diana has taught and directed theatre for youth for over 20 years and put on over 25 productions. In the past three years, she directed the full-length productions of For Such A Time, The Story of Esther, The Secret Adversary and The Tempest with her high school Performance Class. The younger Drama Discovery class performed Aesops Fables, a Greek Chorus and The Story of Ping (an Ancient Chinese Shadow Puppet show) this past year. Diana was the Drama Director/Teacher at the Rio Grande Enrichment Studies (RGES) for 11 years where she produced The Count of Monte Cristo, The Sound of Music, Twelfth Night, Fiddler On The Roof, and many more. She began a theater group, Hope Drama, where she produced plays for HIgh School, Middle School and Elementary School students. This year, in collaboration with Joanna King her assistant director, and Sophia Neal, the Sightline choir teacher, they wrote the musical Sightline produced on Esther. Diana has a Master's degree in education and also taught in APS for several years. She homeschooled all three of her children through high school. Diana was actively involved in Albuquerque's musical theatre and opera scene for many years. She loves JESUS and all things theatre!

CARRIE ROSE
Sketching, pen and ink drawing, sculpting, painting with watercolor, acrylic, and oil paints, working with scratchboards, handcrafting paper mache, clay & ceramic work, creating collages, producing textile art, designing handmade soaps and candles, utilizing chalk and oil pastels...these are the summation of decades of delightful pursuits of our new art teacher Carrie Rose. She acknowledges that we are made in the image of God, the Great Artist Himself, whose endless creativity and flair define all of His perfect Creation. She considers it her privilege to cultivate these abilities intentionally and joyfully with other students of art. Carrie has taught fine art for around 5 years with Soli Deo Gloria and Calvary Co-ops.

KATYA VOSS
Katya Voss has loved reading and literature since she was a small child, and that love has only grown with time. Homeschooled herself through 12th grade, Katya graduated with a B.A. in English Literature from UNM. She taught high school drama classes and directed multiple drama productions, including Macbeth, As You Like It, Robin Hood, Westmark, Sherlock Holmes, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She has also taught English classes at UNM. She has 12 of experience teaching children through Awana programs and currently directs the Awana program at Sandia Baptist Church with her husband Robert. She homeschools her 8 older children and plans to teach the last child once she is old enough to hold a pencil! This will be her 3rd year teaching literature classes at Sightline.

TONIA CHRISTIANSEN
Tonia has a degree in biology. She is a certified elementary school teacher and also certified to teach mid-school science. Tonia was also a Christian homeschool parent who homeschooled her children through elementary school, She taught elementary school for almost 20 years in APS and at Hope Christian School. She is a lifelong learner like most teachers and homeschool
parents. Tonia is also a gardener, certified personal trainer, and health coach. While her 3 kids are
grown now, and she and her husband are retired from their full-time jobs, they still love being involved in kid’s lives.

ROBERT VOSS
Robert studied electrical engineering at UNM while interning with Wavefont Sciences Optics and Instrumentation for four years. He has run his own IT business since 2004. He has extensive experience working with clients in scientific fields. He has nine children, all of whom are homeschooled. Robert has a deep passion for teaching children to be scientists, to follow the scientific method, and to come to the knowledge that our understanding is limited and generally incomplete, as only God is the completion of knowledge.

SOPHIA MONROE
Sophia Monroe has received more than 15 years of formal music education through private and university level teachers. She graduated from the University of New Mexico with a bachelors in Vocal Performance, where she performed several leading roles, including Mabel from Pirates of Penzance and Despina from Cosi fan Tutte. She is known to the Sightline family for co-writing, orchestrating, and teaching the Sightline drama students the music for the Spring 2024 play Esther. Sophia plays numerous instruments, including Cello, Guitar, Piano, Ukulele, and Violin.

JOANNA KING
Joanna King is a classically trained clarinetist. She spent much of her youth playing in orchestras, bands, chamber groups, competitions and doing solo work.. In college she set aside her clarinet to focus on voice and tuneful percussion. She has been a worship leader, worship pastor and is a song writer. These days you might find her playing electric bass in her church's worship team. Joanna is experienced in dance performance in many genres including ballet, jazz, hip Hop, hula, drill, modern, and others. She has choreographed in all these genres and more. In the 2006-2007 season, Joanna joined Life Movement Productions (which is now Veneration Dance) as a choreographer and dancer. There, she has honed her passion to tell Gospel and redemptive stories through music and dance. In the 2022-2023 season, Joanna came on staff at Sightline Integrated Arts.

LESLIE HARVEY
Leslie has been creating yearbooks for Sighline for the past two years. She graduated from Arizona State University this past December with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, focusing on digital photography. Leslie is excited to teach the next generation about the basics of cameras and photography, as well as journalistic ethics and integrity. She is also looking forward to leading a yearbook team to create something special together!

JOSEPH VOSS
Joseph Voss is most exhilarated for the forthcoming advent of linguistics and historical pedagogy. Though sometimes seen as pretentious, Joseph has acquired extensive knowledge and has much to impart this year. He has been a dedicated member of his church, leading by example through his involvement in teaching various VBS, youth, and Awana programs. Since the introduction of Sightline in 2021, Joseph has actively participated in literature classes, gaining valuable personal experience. Homeschooled himself by his loving parents, Joseph has been well taught and is eager to share his wisdom with the next generation of aspiring writers and teachers.
