Who is this class for?

Any high school student wishing to experience the joy of being in a choir and becoming a singer and musician. Mature middle school students are welcome with the approval of the teacher. 

Class Description:

Explore and expand your musical horizon in this choir where singers of all levels are encouraged to enhance their vocal confidence and technique. Our repertoire spans diverse genres including Christmas, sacred music, and musical theater, offering opportunities to improve sight-reading, music theory, and solo performance skills. Students will learn to harmonize within an ensemble and how movement and acting intertwine with music to create compelling vocal performances.

Students Will:

  • Discover techniques to grow as singers
  • Learn to sing harmonies
  • Learn music from different eras and genres
  • Learn and implement music theory and musical terms
  • Improve sight reading ability
  • Improve and grow as a soloist
  • Improve and grow as part of an ensemble
  • Employ theatrical/acting elements such as choreography and dance 

Homework:

Students will be expected to practice and memorize their individual pieces at home each week. They my be given music theory homework, quizzes or other assignments.

Grading:

A traditional letter grade will be assign based on weekly preparedness, participation, quizzes and homework assignments.
